New Year’s celebrations are always fun for the hoomans, but they can be scary for your furry frens. Most pets get spooked easily by bright lights and loud noises, so it’s key to have a game plan in place to keep your pets safe this New Year’s Eve!
5 Tips for Keeping Your Pet Safe this New Year’s Eve:
Make sure your pet’s tags are updated: This is a pre-New Year’s tip! Make sure before the day even begins that all tags are updated with your correct contact information and secured on your pet, so if they do go missing you can have full assurance that they are identifiable.
Keep pets inside: Fireworks and loud noises are some of the biggest reasons why pets run away. Whenever possible, keep your pet inside on New Year’s Eve, and when it’s time for them to go to the bathroom, make sure they are on a leash and have an eye on them.
Make sure your pets get lots of activity that day: One of the best ways to ensure that your pet is relaxed on the night of New Year’s Eve is to wear them out during the day with physical activity. If you have a dog, take them on a long walk, and if you have a cat, play with them for at least an hour during the day.
Create a safe place for your pets: On the night of New Year’s, the best way to keep your pets calm is to create a safe, familiar place for them to hang out inside. You can bring their bed, food, water, toys, etc., all to that one central location.
Keep your pet away from harmful substances: Last, but not least, keep your pet away from any food or alcohol and be aware of any fireworks around that could cause harm to your furry fren.
