3 Tips for Celebrating National Cat Day

Guess what October 29th is, hooman?  It’s National Cat Day! National Cat Day was created in 2005 as a day to celebrate your furry feline friends, as well as promote cat adoption for those that need homes. So, how do you celebrate? Here are 3 tips to make this year’s National Cat Day absolutely purrrfect:    1. Consider Adopting a Cat  The sad reality is that millions of cats enter shelters every single year without homes. If you’ve been looking for a furry friend recently, National Cat Day is the perfect day to adopt a cat. Find a local animal shelter near you and contact them before visiting to inquire about the adoption process.    2. Donate to a Local Animal Shelter  If you’re not quite ready for adoption or don’t have the time to take care of a pet right now, then donating to your local animal shelter is another great way to celebrate National Cat Day. Local animal shelters often are short-staffed and short-supplied, so every penny makes a huge difference in caring for feline friends without homes. Most shelters have a place online where you can make donations, but once you select a shelter that you want to contribute to, make sure to check out the best way to donate.  At My Pet Selfies, we believe so strongly in supporting animal shelters that a portion of every single purchase is used to help an animal in need. You can learn more about our cause and difference here.    3. Treat Your Cat to a New Toy or Special Treat  Last but certainly not least, if you have a cat at home, National Cat Day is the purrrfect day to give them a little extra treat. Maybe it looks like bringing them home a squeaky, new toy? Or maybe it looks like treating them to one of these homemade DIY treat recipes? Whatever it is, give your kitty some extra TLC!  If you decide to use one of these ideas to celebrate National Cat Day, make sure to let us know on our Facebook Group!
